A Three Day State Level Trainer’s Training Programme for the YRC Programme Officers

Since inception of the Society in 1920, the Honorary Secretary of the State Branch was assisted by a Chief Administrative officer.  So far retired persons from Government / Public Sector undertakings were appointed to this position.  The Chief Administrative Officer lastly appointed from Government department has resigned during March 2008.  Since then this post is vacant.
         

Of late, the activities of Tamil Nadu State Branch have increased to a great extent, especially, the programmes supported by Partner National Societies like Canadian Red Cross, Spanish Red Cross, Italian Red Cross, Swedish Red Cross, National Headquarters etc.  The momentum has gained due to expansion of activities. This requires a responsible officer to co-ordinate the activities / programmes undertaken by the Society in assisting / guiding the Secretary.  Hence the post of Chief Administrative Officer has been filled up from among the employees of the Society internally. This will enable to have continuity and easy access to the past history of the activities / files.  The internal employees will be motivated to contribute better also.
           Thiru M. Balaraman, Development Officer who is the senior most officer in the Society having put in above 38 years of service in various capacities starting from Junior Assistant, Cashier, Assistant, Accountant, Accounts Officer and Development Officer has been considered for the position.  Thiru M. Balaraman as Development Officer has been responsible for dissemination about the Red Cross movement and activities and activating the district and sub district branches in the State. He has undergone various training programmes on Dissemination, Disaster Management, Tracing, Fund Rising etc., conducted by ICRC, Federation and Indian Red Cross Society, National Headquarters in various parts of India and abroad i.e Nepal, Hong Kong Malaysia and Singapore.  He has organized hundreds of training programmes for volunteers and members of Red Cross, JRC and YRC in all the districts in Tamil Nadu. He is a sincere and hardworking officer who can undertake the additional responsibilities in guiding / assisting the Secretary by taking the State Branch forward.
