With the support of Indian Red Cross Society , Tamil Nadu Branch ,Madurai District Red Cross Society , in association with the Tamil Nadu Railway Police (TRP) has opened “ Family News Service” aimed at tracing and re-uniting runaway and missing children with their family members .
Presiding over the inaugural function at the Madurai Railway Junction hereon Thursday, Divisional Railway Manager Mr.Anil Singhal, IRSS, said that often children traveling in train went missing and welcomed the humanitarian tasks of Indian Red Cross Society in counseling and assisting the Tamil Nadu Railway Police in reuniting them with their families.
t was the first time the services has been started in Railway Station in the state .Indian Red Cross Society District Branches at every districts and taluk level(Sub Branches) , will be able to help the railway police to unite the children with their families . Madurai was chosen because of it is an important junction for the southern district and of late, there were many cases of run away children found .
Over 300 members from public, Youth Red Cross wing, Junior Red Cross wing and District Branch were participated
