TWO DAYS STATE LEVEL
FAMILY NEWS SERVICE -TRAINING PROGRAM ON TRACING FOR UNACCOMPANIED MINORS & PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT.
Indian Red Cross is a Humanitarian organization working for alleviating human sufferings due to War, Conflicts, Migration, Child Trafficking, natural and manmade calamities by providing immediate relief, health care and other necessary supports.
As a part of this effort, During 2008 April Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu State Branch organized a three day State level Training Programme on FNS for District Focal Person. In that training 30 participants from 30 districts were trained. As follow-up of this training, eight one day district level volunteers training programs were conducted and 350 volunteers from 27 districts participated in that training. Through this training in all the 27 districts tracing unit has been established and tracing cases opened for action.
During 2009, 13 & 14 July a two-day State Level training on Tracing for Unaccompanied Minors and Psychological Support was held at Madurai with the support of International Committee of Red Cross & Indian Red Cross Society, National Head Quarters , New Delhi. 31 volunteers from all the 31 districts of Tamilnadu participated in this training program.
Dr. Vimala Ramalingam, President, IRCS, TNSB inaugurated the program and she emphasized the importance of establishing district level Tracing Units and training more volunteers at grassroots level.
The main objectives of this Training program are:
- To strengthen the capacity of District Branch Tracing units and enhance the capacity of volunteers.
- To create a team of trained personnel to execute tracing services and offer psychological support to the unaccompanied children.
- To expand the tracing programme to districts by forming Volunteers Forum
- Ultimately, to utilise the services of the team in lesson learning exercise.

During the Valedictory Mrs. Shantha Diaz , Secretary request the trained volunteers to visit the Children home, Juvenile Homes, Child Welfare Committees in their respective districts. Mr.Anil Singal . I.R.S, Divisional Railway Manager, assure to extend their supports by allotting a separate space for IRCS Madurai Tracing wing at Madurai Railway Junction for tracing activities.
