Disaster management training programs

Disaster management training programs for YRC students


Disaster Management volunteers training program was organized in New College Chennai and Kanniga Paramesweri women' Arts and Science college Chennai. About 170 YRC students participated in the training on Red Cross Movement and Principles, Disaster Management, Code of conduct, relief management, Roles and Responsibilities of Volunteers.


First Aid, Search and Rescue trainings.


A One day First Aid, Search and Rescue training for volunteers in Namakkal Permabalur and Tiruvannamalai districts was conducted with the support of NHQ. About 150 volunteers attended the training programs.


The sessions facilitated included RC movement, DM concepts, types, Impacts, DM cycle, role of Red Cross in DM, First Aid, Search and Rescue, role of volunteers in DM and disaster preparedness.


DDRT Refresher training at Tuticorin


The District Disaster Response Team Refresher Training programme at IRCS Tuticorin District Branch was conducted on 11.09.2011.It was a one day training programme. The sessions were RC movement, DM impacts, and role of Red Cross in DM, Emergency Assessment, Reporting, Responsibilities of DDRT teams during disasters. Thirty five Red Cross Volunteers participated in the programme.


DDRT Formation and training at Coimbatore.


IRCS Coimbatore branch organized district disaster response team formation and training programme with support of IRCS NHQ, for volunteers on 29th, 30th September and 1st October 2011 at Red Cross building Coimbatore.


The sessions were RC movement, DM impacts, and role of Red Cross in DM, Emergency Assessment, Reporting, Responsibilities of DDRT team, Disaster preparedness, First Aid, Search and Rescue, Water and Sanitation, safety audit, School and college evacuation plan, shelter management and security during emergency. Sixty Red Cross volunteers' attended the training programme. The methodology adopted for the programme included Power point presentations, Group Discussion, Group presentations and practical sessions.
