Celebration of World Red Cross Day

On 07.05.2011, the Pondicherry UT Red Cross Branch celebrated World Red Cross Day in Pondicherry. Thiru.Harish L Metha , Vice – President Indian Red Cross Society , Tamil Nadu State Branch was the Chief Guest on this occasion and delivered a key note address about the theme “ FIND THE VOLUNTEER INSIDE YOU ”.

The Nilgiri’s District

On 08.05.2011, Indian Red Cross Society, Nilgiri’s District Branch celebrated World Red Cross Day. Prof.K.Gopal, Secretary, Nilgiri’s Dist Branch delivered the speech about History of Red Cross and the theme “FIND THE VOLUNTEER INSIDE YOU”. Capt.K.R.Mani, Chairman felicitated and praised the caring heart of Mr. Jean Henry Dunant, Founder of Red Cross, which had spread its wing across the global including hope in the minds of people those who are affected by war, conflict, Disaster. During this celebration participants took the pledge to render selfless service to the society. Relief materials were distributed to 50 HIV + people. 

The Secretary , Tamil Nadu Branch participated with Puducherry Union Territory Red Cross Branch celebration of the World Red Cross Day on 10th May 2010.

Dindugul District –

On 08.05.2011 World Red Cross Day was celebrated at government HQRs Hospital Dindigul. Dr. T. Jayapal Joint Director Health Services & Vice president, IRCS, Dindigul delivered the speech on Red Cross and its Noble service to humanity. Er.N.Shek Dawood, Secretary IRCS felicitated the Theme “FIND THE VOLUNTEER INSIDE YOU ”.100 participants from JRC, YRC and District Branch were attended. Fruits & refreshments were distributed to patients in Govt. HQRS. Hospital Dindugul.

Vellore District Branch -

On 09.05.2011 World Red Cross Day was celebrated at Sri Narayani College of Nursing, Thirumalakodi , Vellore. The Function was inagurated by Dr.N.Balaji , P.hd., Director of Sri Narayani College of Nursing, Thirumalakodi , Vellore. Mrs.Susheela Suryaprakash , Secretary , Indian Red Cross Society, Vellore District Branch fecilitated about the activities of Red Cross and importance of Celebration on World Red Cross Day. Thiru.T.M. Vijayaraghavalu , Vice-President , Indian Red Cross Society , Vellore District fecilitated on the theme “ FIND THE VOLUNTEER INSIDE YOU ” and the life & history of the Founder of Red Cross.

Youth Red Cross Programme officers delivered lecture on International Red Cross Movements and activities. During the celebration welfare assistances and relief items were given to blind and poor people and competition on Elaquision, writing and Drawing were conducted and prizes distributed to winners by Vellore Red Cross District Branch. 300 participants from District Branch Members, Youth Red Cross were participated.

Thirunelveli District Branch -

On 08.05.2011 World Red Cross Day was celebrated in Thirnelveli District . on the eve of the day a blood doantion camp was organised in coordination with Suriyan F.M. at Blood bank , Thirunelveli Medical College Hospital . Members and Volunteers of district branch donated the blood.

Dharmapuri District -

  On 07.05.2011, World Red Cross Day was celebrated at Vijay Vidyalaya Matric School, Dharmapuri. Thiru.K.Kandasamy , Secretary felicitated on Red Cross Movement, Principals , JRC & YRC Moto and Volunteerism .65 YRC volunteers were participated

Thenkasi Sub District Branch

On 08.05.2011 World Red Cross Day celebrated by Thenkasi Sub District Branch at Govt.HQRS Hospital , Thenkasi . Thiru D.Kankeyan Kennadi ,District Revenue Officer & President , IRCS , Thenkasi Sub Branch delivered presidential address . Prof.Rossery Mary, Zonal Coordinator Youth Red Cross, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, delivered special address on “FIND VOLUNTEERS INSIDE YOU”, 100 Youth Red Cross Volunteers from various colleges were participated . Best Blood donor award given to YRC volunteers and Certificates also distributed. Life Members and Youth Red Cross Volunteers donated their blood and collected blood were handed over to Govt. HQRs Hospital Thenkasi . Vote of thanks given by the Thiru Subramaniam Secretary, Thenkasi Sub District Branch.

Thituvaiyaru Sub – District Branch

-   On 11.05.2011 , World Red Cross Day was celebrated at North Street , Thiruvaiyaru. Thiru.C.Nagarajan, President, Panchayat Union, Thiruvaiyaru unveiled the Potrait of Jean Henry Dunant . Dr.V.S.Selvam , President Indian Red Cross Society , Thiruvaiyaru Sub District Branch fecilitated about Red Cross activities . 50 volunteers participated in this programme.

Thuraiyur Sub – District Branch -

On 25.05.2011, Thuraiyur Sub District Branch , Trichy Distrct was inaugrated by Thiru.J.J.L. Gnanaraj, Chairman, Indian Red Cross Society , Trichy District Branch. Thiru.K.Chandrasekaran , District Secretary, Trichy District felicitated the new branch.On this occasion World Red Cross Day also celeberated . Thirty (30) newly enrolled life members were honoured .Hygiene kits were given to 62 orphanage children
