conducted National Disaster Water and Sanitation Response Team Training from 21st May, 2010 to 26 May , 2010 at New Delhi. Disaster Management Co-ordinator participated in the above training Programme.
Goal of the training
To reduce the vulnerability of affected populations in disasters through developing the Indian Red Cross National Disaster Response Team’s capacity and in Water and Sanitation Emergency Response. To develop the Training of Trainers for the roll out of NDWRT Training to the IRCS state and district branches in a phased manner
Objectives: ToMaintain, Improve and Expand WatSan, hygiene promotion and Emergency Health capacities in Disaster Preparedness & Response (meeting acute needs),maintain, Improve and Scale-Up capacities in recovery and for sustainable, developmental WatSan, hygiene promotion and Emergency Health (meeting chronic needs).
The topics viz., Common Diseases related to WatSan, How can water be collectted for the needy people , what is the important thing of the collecting water, Methods for Water Treatment, Sanitation in Emergencies and Selection Criteria, were discussed during the above training programme.
This Training will be implemented during State Level and District DM Trainings for strengthening the capacity of State Disaster WATSAN response team.
