Family News Service - Activities of Tracing Unit Service.

 

 

During the 4 days State level Youth Red Cross Training camp held at Bharathiar University , Coimbatore from 12th December 2011 to 15th December 2011, sessions were also conducted on Tracing during Natural Disaster , Psychological Support etc..


On 14.12.2011 the training officer from Indian Red Cross Society, Tamilnadu Branch gave training on Disaster Management to the students at Nirmala college for women at Coimbatore. The sessions also included activities of IRCS, TNB, Global Warming, Tracing & Psychological support. Around 150 students were benefited.


Tracing Activities in co-ordination with Coimbatore Distrct Branch was also undertaken since, in situations of armed conflict or internal violence,Disaster, Social Welfare Problems, Migration etc., countless families suffer great anguish when loved ones go missing and they make desperate attempts to locate them. Very often, the families of missing persons are unable to overcome their pain and rebuild their lives again, even many years after the events. Indian Red Cross Society, which contains provisions aimed at limiting the effects of armed conflict and preventing people from disappearing, uphold the right of families to know the fate of their relatives, arranged for visits to the Rehabilitation home to provide Tracing Service for the inmates . More than 250 inmates are accomodated in that home.Most of them are above 90 % Rehabilitated.



 


On 14.12.2011, an Introduction training on Tracing sercvice for Mentally rehabilitated inmates was conducted at IRCS District Branch Building at Coimbatore . During the training, Tracing Introduction , Psycholgical support and mock drill sessions were also conducted . Twenty Five YRC Volunteers from Krishnammal College , Coimbatore attended the training.


On 15th and 16th December 2011, trained volunteers visited UDAVUM KARANGAL , a home for mentally rehabilitated at Mayileripalayam, Coimbatore along with Tmt. Poongothai,District Secretary , Mr. Sujith IRCS Coimbatore and Tracing Officer , Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch. They met the mentally rehabilitated inmates and collected information about their family members who were to be traced . During the above mission Technical staffs of Udavum Karangal supported while dealing with the inmates. Thirty Six Tracing requests were collected from the inmates to their family members in Karnataka , Andhra , Orissa , West Bengal , Maharastra , Madhya Pradesh , and Bangladesh. All the collected 36 Tracing Requests are being forwarded to National Head Quarters , New Delhi for necessary action . Transport arrangement for this programme was done by the Krishnammal College, Coimbatore, under the able guidance of Chairman Indian Red Cross Society , Coimbatore Branch.
