Youth Red Cross

A meeting of the Principals and YRC Programme officers of Arts & science colleges of Tiruvannamalai & Vellore Districts was conducted on 3/08/2011 at Vellore District Red cross Office in the presence of Thiru Jothimurguan, Vice - Chancellor of Thiruvallur University Collector of Vellore District and Shri Harish L. Metha Vice President & Chairman - IRCS TNB in order to review about the enrollment of the colleges under YRC unit; status of the remittance of the subscription and about the YRC activities at the college level .47 members consists of principal & YRC programme officers attended the meeting.

62nd Anniversary of Geneva Conventions

In view of the Celebration of 62 nd Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions various Competitions like Oratorical ( English , Tamil) , Essay Writing ( Tamil , English ) , Quiz, Visualizing & painting and Variety programmes were conducted in the city colleges from 01 - 08 - 2011 to 08-08-2011 . 700 YRC volunteers from 65 colleges participated in the Competitions. State level Competition in oratorical both in English and Tamil was conducted on 18 - 08 - 2011 at Red Cross Premises for the First Prize winners at the District level Competition Conducted in 20 districts.

One Day Zonal Level Seminar for YRC programme officers

One Day Zonal Level Seminar for YRC Programme Officers supported by the State Branch was conducted on 05-08-2011 at Queen Mary’s College. Dr. Nirmala Prasad Chairperson YRC Sub-Committee and the Principal of M.O.P Vaishnav college delivered the Inaugural Address. Dr. Rama Seethalakshmi ,Principal i/c of QMC delivered the Presidential Address, Dr.Raja Hussain, Director, USAB and Dr.P. Sathayanarayanan, Secretary, Chennai District Branch felicitated the programme.

Sessions were covered on Youth and Service, History of Red Cross by Prof.A. Kadar Basha, Hon. Advisor, YRC and Dr. Jayanthi Richard, District Organizer of Chennai District. Certificates were distributed by Thiru.T.Radhakrishnan Executive Secretary,IRCS,TNB. 47YRC Programme Officers Partipated.This programme was organised by Dr. R.Anuradha, Zonal Co-ordinator, University of Madras.

One Day District Level Students Study Camp Supported by State Branch was Conducted on 17-08-2011 by Dr. Jayanthi Richard, District Organiser at Women Christian College (WCC), Chennai District. Prof. A. Kadar Basha, Hon. Advisor, YRC.delivered the Inaugural Address. Sessions were covered on HIV / AIDS & Drug abuse among Adolescence, Disaster Management, History of Red Cross, First Aid, Health of Hygiene & Personality Development & commutation skills. 40 YRC Volunteers Participated The YRC Volunteers of New College, Women Christian College & Kanniga Parameswari Colleges are rendering the voluntary Services at ophthalmic Hospital, Egmore, regularly
