| FAMILY NEWS SERVICE- Tracing
During the event of a disaster or conflict, other than the food, shelter and medical necessities, the non-physical wounds inflicted upon the members of the affected families have to be addressed too. A range of activities are done that aim to restore family links, prevent separation and disappearance, restore and maintain contact between family members, and clarify the fate of persons reported missing.
Following that, a one-day FNS Training Programme on Tracing service for Disaster Prone Areas was conducted at Thanjavur District .Forty DMTF (Disaster Management Task Force Team) volunteers participated in this programme. They were having their residences at the nearby coastal areas are hence selected for the tracing training programme so that, their service will be utilized at the community level in times of emergency and during disaster.
 Forty The topics on Red Cross Movement, RFL Introduction, Red Cross Message, Tracing, Tracing Group Work, Tracing During Natural Disaster, Mock Drill of (RCM) Data Collection and (Tracing Request) missing person matching process were handled by the Tracing Officer, from Indian Red Cross Society, Tamil Nadu Branch.
Through this program, the participants were made aware of the tracing service that is provided by Red Cross. They learnt how to open tracing requests and perform active tracing during Disaster. The participants responded very actively and were equipped well enough to disseminate this service to their community.
WELFARE MESSAGE
Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch has received a welfare message from National Head Quarters stating that Mother of Thiru. Victor Premakumar, Srilankan Refugee Camp, Paramathy, Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu, was sick and admitted in Mannar Hospital, Srilanka. The State Branch immediately arranged to transmit the message to Thiru. Victor Premakumar, Srilankan Refugee Camp, Paramathy through the District FNS Focal Person, Nammakal .Accordingly the message was delivered to Thiru. Victor Premakumar, Srilankan Refugee Camp, Paramathy within an hour .
On the receipt of the message, Thiru. Victor Premakumar, Srilankan Refugee Camp, Paramathy, Namakkal has requested for repatriation to Srilanka to see his sick mother. Accordingly Red Cross has arranged to book the air ticket for his journey on 20.04.2011 and he thanked Red Cross for the timely action.
