         The Indian Red Cross is a voluntary humanitarian organization having a network of over 700 branches throughout the country, providing relief in times of disasters/emergencies and promotes health & care of the vulnerable people and communities. It is a leading member of the largest independent humanitarian organization in the world, the International Red Cross & Red Crescent Movement.


         The Mission of the Indian Red Cross is to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized and even prevented and thus contribute to creating more congenial climate for peace.

 

 

 

     
Disaster Preparedness and Disaster Response Program
Disaster Management

 To strengthen disaster Management capacity of IRCS Tamil Nadu State branch and to create a team of trained personnel for effective emergency response at State and District Branch level,IRCS Tamil Nadu Branch conducted

a five days State Disaster Response Team (SDRT) training program from 25th to 29th July 2008 at Chennai. Thirty eight committed volunteers from 22 districts participated in this training program.more..

State Level JRC camp
Junior Red Cross
A state level JRC camp was conducted at Boiler Plant Hr.Sec.School , Kailasapuram , Trichy from 27th to 30th December 2008 .195 Juniors & Counsellors from 33 Educational District from all over Tamil Nadu participated in this camp . The camp was inaugurated by our president Dr.Vimala Ramalingam .

The Campers were taken to Uchipillaiyarkoil & kallanai on 29 December 2008 for sight seeing .more..

 
Programme on Intentional Injuries to children

The Tamil Nadu Branch of Indian Red Cross Society will organize a special awareness programme to sensitize parents, teachers and children to the “Intentional injuries” being caused to children, the State President Dr. Vimala Ramalingam said.

The awareness programme to commence during the next academic year is aimed at checking the sexual and other abuses being caused to children. Dr.Vimala Ramalingam. more..

Tracing wing inaugurated
 

With the support of  Indian Red Cross Society Tamil Nadu Branch ,Madurai District Red Cross Society , in association with the Tamil Nadu Railway Police (TRP) has opened “ Family News Service” aimed at tracing and re-uniting runaway and missing children with their family members .
